How do I find out more about an Armstrong Piccolo?
I have an Armstrong piccolo that I would find information about. How do I know if it is sterling silver or gold-plated silver? Also, where can I find the serial number and model number? Thank you!
Generally, you can find the serial number on the back (where the keys are inches) up (where the joint head attached). Sometimes it may also be at the back towards the foot.
As for money-Armstrong is a student make, model Selmer ... I would almost guarantee that just makes silver-nickel, it is more likely veneer. Selmer did not spend that much money on a student model instrument.
I do not remember the top of my head if Armstrong model numbers or if they refer to them only a year ...the best solution would be to call your local music store, give them the serial number and they could tell you what year it was made or what model number it is. Most models of Selmer student instruments are not listed online (a little, but not much) and a music store would probably have access to the Orion Blue Book (lists nearly every instrument ever made).
