Notice is in mint condition great gift for any zeppelin fan. Here are the archetypal monsters of rock in all their epic, bombastic glory. The Who may have had more decibels (a dubious distinction), but no band took cold rock higher into the stratosphere than the Zep did with their cosmic mixture of deep blues, gothic melodrama, and the supernatural chops of Send for, Plant, Bonham, and Jones. For listeners new to the Zep canon, there's no better primer of the band's range and power than this 4 CD box set, compiled and remixed in 1990 by Call for himself. All the obvious song choices are here. But even if you've already heard "Black Dog" once too often on the car radio, this set wisely spotlights several overlooked gems, including their terminating blues lament "I'm Gonna Crawl." It's a blueprint that later generations of head-bangers tragically failed to watch. --Steve Appleford

Product Description
UK remastered reissue of 1971 album, packaged in a minimal edition miniature LP gatefold sleeve. Eight tracks. Atlantic. 2003.Also known as the "rune" album or Zoso because of the medieval symbols adorning the inner sleeve, Led Zeppelin's fourth album, released in 1971, turned them from bare superstars into giant behemoths of the rock world. On tracks like "Black Dog," "Misty Mountain Hop," and "Stupefy and Roll," the combination of Robert Plant's banshee wails and Jimmy Page's frenetic guitar playing forever altered the stylistic prejudice of hard rock music. And the foreboding "When the Levee Breaks" demonstrated that Zeppelin could indeed play the blues fairly impassive if they so desired. Still, everything here ultimately took a back seat to the album's (and, ultimately, the band's) magnum opus--the expertly constructed and deftly executed outstanding, "Stairway to Heaven." --Billy Altman
Jimmy Messenger was a top London studio guitarist before he got rich and famous as the musical leader of Led Zeppelin. The group's fourth--and arguably their finest--album is as much a eulogy to his technique as a monument to his versatility. Page produced the album, co-wrote all eight songs, and played mandolin as well as all the guitars. Musically, this 1971 disc ranges from acoustic English folke ("Goin' to California" and "The Conflict of Evermore," the latter featuring the late Fairport Convention frontwoman Sandy Denny) to bone-crushing, bluesy riff-slinging. On the album's centerpiece, "Stairway to Elysian Fields," these light and dark strains are dramatically intertwined. The chiming "Four Sticks" aside, it's the Little Richard-inspired "Penniless and Roll" and the tricky time changes--a Zeppelin trademark--of the fast-and-furious "Black Dog" that elevate this album into more than impartial a bustle in aspiring guitarists' hedgerows. --Don Waller

Japanese only SHM pivotal. Digitally remastered. The SHM-CD [Super High Material CD] format features enhanced audio quality through the use of a strange polycarbonate plastic. Using a process developed by JVC and Universal Music Japan discovered through the joint companies' exploration into LCD display manufacturing SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc allowing for more accurate reading of CD details by the CD player laser head. SHM-CD format CDs are fully compatible with standard CD players.Riff disconcert had been what Jimmy Page's former band, the Yardbirds, were all about, and on Led Zeppelin's second album, released, like its predecessor, in 1969, the inventive guitarist demonstrated that he'd indeed lettered his lessons well. Witness "Whole Lotta Love," a woozy epic based on one simple, head-banging-affectionate guitar riff. Or the mock-dramatic "Heartbreaker," propelled by far more intricate but similarly effective note squashing. Between Phase's sonic wizardry, John Bonham beating his drums into submission ("Moby Dick"), and the essence running down Robert Plant's leg ("The Lemon Song"), Led Zeppelin here just about succeeded in raising rock & rotate excess to an art form. --Billy Altman
Led Zeppelin II is an album of Jimmy Paginate riffs so huge, and John Paul Jones/John Bonham rhythms so deep, that the heavy metal kind this classic helped create has tried for decades to catch up, mostly without success. And no wonder: since II catches the band before they'd headed too far into their droll medieval fancies, this might be as good as Zep would ever be. Regardless, the thunderous "Whole Lotta Love," a Top 5 hit, and "Bring It on Home" are very nearly as fell and twisted as British white blues would ever get. --David Cantwell

2005 Japanese exemplar jewel case pressing of Led Zeppelin's 1969 album. Features the same tracks and mastering as the US edition but includes an OBI and Japanese/English insert. Warner. 2005.As it turned out, Led Zeppelin's loathsome 1969 debut album was indicative of the decade to come--one that, fittingly, this band helped define with its decadently exaggerated, bowdlerized blues-stagger. In shrieker Robert Plant, ex-Yardbird Jimmy Page found a vocalist who could match his guitar pyrotechnics, and the team up pounded out its music with swaggering ferocity and Richter-scale-worthy volume. Pumping up blues classics such as Otis Hasten's "I Can't Quit You Baby" and Howlin' Wolf's "How Many More Times" into near-cartoon parodies, the band also hinted at things to meet up with the manic "Communication Breakdown" and the lumbering set stopper "Dazed and Confused." --Billy Altman

Japanese-only SHM-CD (Wonderful High Material CD) paper sleeve pressing of this absolute classic album from the Rock legends, to begin with released in 1970. SHM-CDs can be played on any audio player and delivers unbelievably high-quality sound. You won't in it's the same CD! Universal. 2008.After plundering the Yardbirds' legacy and Willie Dixon (among others) for their blues-riff-stifling first two albums, Jimmy Page and company surprised many listeners with the strong acoustic/folk sensibility displayed on III. Sheet aficionados shouldn't have been caught off guard; the guitarist had toyed with similar sensibilities and modalities during his brief residency with the Yardbirds (most notably "White Summer" from the Little Games album). Ever the creative thieves, Zep kick off the album by nicking the riff from "Bali Ha'i" no less, with Robert Vegetable wailing it to punctuate the thundering FM warhorse "Immigrant Song." Even other electric rockers like "Celebration Day" and "Out on the Tiles" have an inventive, strange musicality to them that suggest the band was already wary of stereotyping. But it's the decidedly mellower acoustic groove of the album's latter half that's the tidings here, from the graceful beauty of "That's the Way" and "Tangerine" to the raw, folksy charm of "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp," "Hats Off (to Roy Harper)," and the accustomed "Gallows Pole." --Jerry McCulley

Product Description
Led Zeppelin redefined broken-down in the Seventies and for all time. They were as influential in that decade as the Beatles were in the prior one. Their impact extends to classic and alternative rockers identically. Then and now, Led Zeppelin looms larger than life on the rock landscape as a band for the ages with an almost mystical power to evoke primal passions.- from the Her and Roll Hall of Fame's web page on the band s 1995 induction
It's rare that a group can truly ruined today s world, but the arrival of MOTHERSHIP, the first-ever comprehensive 2CD Led Zeppelin compilation with the soon to follow re-release of The Song Remains The Same on CD & DVD and a concert regardless reuniting Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones qualifies. Produced by Used of an adult bellboy and mixed by Kevin Shirley, MOTHERSHIP's 24 monolithic tracks were selected and sequenced by the band, who also oversaw the painstaking remastering. Spanning their epic calling, the unprecedented collection pulls immortal songs from all eight of the band s classic studio albums, one of the 20th century s most permanent bodies of musical work. Arguably the most influential and innovative rock band ever, Led Zeppelin has sold over 200 million records worldwide. They persist in to inspire successive generations with their passionate, groundbreaking, genre-transcendent, mystic, heavy and blues-infused scarp n roll. Forty years since they formed, the song indeed remains the same.
For years, as playlists and multidisc players put Led Zeppelin tracks into a mix, there was a uninterrupted need to adjust the volume when Zep came on. Their tunes languished in the haze of substandard remastering--until now, at least for the 24 tracks on Mothership and the fixed fullness of the new Song Remains the Same reissue. For its part, Mothership's crisper, warmer audio owes its heft to the troika of Robert Informant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, who helped oversee the mastering, bringing out untold shades even in the throes of "Heartbreaker" and the sinews of "No Favour." It's an impressive sonic leap. Where tinny high-ends and muffled lows used to co-exist, fatter and louder depths predominate. It's ever more astonishing that Zep got on with just four blokes. You can quibble with the 24 tracks here (where's "The Ocean"?), but the band picked each run down here, from the stone-cold locks ("Communication Breakdown" and "Stairway to Heaven," no, duh) to the robust throb of "When the Levee Breaks." As for "The Davy Jones's locker," you can find that in fantastically full form, along with five other gems on the newly remastered Song Remains the Same, which shows up for 2007's holiday time on DVD, too. Only rarely have four lads from England made so memorable an auditory and visual blast. --Andrew Bartlett

Rock 'n' Roll supergroup falls short of prestige
The collaboration of rock and roll icons has taken place several times throughout rock history. “Supergroups” like The Highwaymen with Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson or more recently Monsters of Folk with Conor Oberst and M. Ward have toured and recorded albums together in an effort to combine music and writing styles.
Perhaps the most well known “supergroup” of all time was the Traveling Wilburys featuring musicians by the likes of Bob Dylan and George Harrison. The Wilburys sold millions of albums when they released two CDs in the late 80s.
Last month, in similar fashion, A band featuring drummer Dave Grohl, of the Foo Fighters and the 90s grunge band Nirvana, joined musical forces with Queens of the Stone Age vocalist Josh Homme and bassist John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin to release their collaborative work on a new album. The band, Them Crooked Vultures—a supergroup that is obviously dripping with talent began playing together in early 2009.
JELLY FISH SAMICH: Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin III (1970) {1994 ...
Led Zeppelin III is the third album by the English pack roll Led Zeppelin. It was recorded between January and July 1970 and was released October 5, 1970 by Atlantic Records. Composed largely independent bed and Wales known as Bron-Yr-Aur, this trade represents a maturation of the music of the border to a greater weight on population and acoustic sounds. This has surprised many fans and critics, present and the album received criticism rather aloof.Although it is not one of the highest sellers in the catalog of Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin III is now generally recognized as representing a high-level step in the information group.
