Why are Shure Headphones more expensive than other in ear headphones?

I want to buy a certain quality in ear headphones, I noticed that the helmets Westone and Shure earphones are very expensive. Why? Are there quality in ear headphones that are better or equivalent thereto which are not so pricy? or do you get what you pay?

Shure, Ultimate Ears, Westone are some of the best brands available. They are quite stiff, but they are really worth.

Sennheiser MM 80i Travel

Sennheiser rarely fires a miss when it comes to headphones , and the MM 80i Travel earphones are no exception to this general rule. At $269.95 (list), however, the in-canal earphones are a bit overpriced for what they offer. With built-in controls for Apple iPhones and iPods, the MM 80i also offer bright, clear audio and articulate, balanced bass response. The in-ear aspect of the design also adds another feature: passive noise reduction. There are some minor design flaws, but I think the primary flaw is in the pricing—with the excellent Shure SE215 ($119, 4 stars), out there for around half the price, the MM 80i earphones just cost too much.

Design, Features

Not terribly flashy, the MM 80i Travel earphones are all black, except for a bit of metallic paneling. The thin black audio cable houses a black control pod for the three buttons that operate iPhones and iPods. Those three buttons (Play/Pause is located in between Plus and Minus) sit in a straight line and, depending on how many times you tap each button, control various aspects of playback and volume—including skipping forward or backward or scrubbing through tracks. The middle button, which bears the Sennheiser logo, not the words "Play/Pause," is also used to answer calls or hang up the iPhone. There's a tiny microphone to the side of these controls. I found the buttons a bit too close together for my taste—you want to be able to operate these controls without looking straight down, but the buttons all feel similar, and they're close enough and small enough that it's easy to press Volume Up when you meant to press Pause, or vice versa. Also, the cable is hardwired, which is a common feature in less-expensive earphones, but shouldn't be in this price range. (The aforementioned $120 Shure SE215 has a detachable/replaceable cable.)
