The Brooks RCMP charged three Brooks men with possession of stolen property over $5,000 when they were stopped over the weekend.
Police responded to a call of people attempting to break into cars and garages at Lake Newell Resort early Saturday morning.
Police stopped the adults, between 18-20 years of age, driving a stolen Jeep.
Chad Vandermeulen, 20 and Christopher Russell, 18 were formally charged. Vandermeulen was remanded to custody and will appear in court on Dec. 9. Russell was released on $200 cash bail.
The third man will be charged this week.
“It came in as a complaint of three males attempting to break into garages and cars in the Lake Newell Resort area,” said Cpl. Chris Wilson of the Brooks RCMP.
Earlier in the week, sometime between Dec. 1 and Dec. 2 police were called to the same area.
“They may be related, but we’re still investigating them as separate incidences at this
